I believe that I have earned a B+ in participation in this class. I have always been interested and engaged in class discussions, specifically in gender roles and the byronic hero. During class presentation I am paying attention and respectful to the presenters. I come to class prepared to discuss assigned reading (except for the one occasion of The Bug). With my own groups presentation, I made sure my peers were actively listening and made it as interesting as possible. I would fight for an A but I do not believe that I have excelled in criteria of a good leader due to my groups lack of effort in participating with the project.
Diablo 3
Diablo 3, a dark fantasy role-playing game, strongly adheres the to rules of fiction. The interesting and creative plot of Diablo is entirely made up in the minds of the story writers. Although the story is created as fiction, the characters and their struggles could be reflected to possible real life situations. Of course not to the absolute extremes of an apocalyptic environment of Hell rising and killing the Risen Dead, but the loss of love ones to sickness and disease as well as fighting to stay alive at all cost. The protagonist within fiction must undergo a dramatic change or development. The protagonist in Diablo 3, whether a Demon Hunter, Witch Doctor, Monk, or etc, will experience major change within themselves as the game progresses. The protagonist will acquire vast amounts of gold and items, while also learning new skills and abilities to fight the dead. The structure of a Diablo game play is separated between objectives and quests, it keeps the story going, similar to a novels chapter continuing onto the next. The narrative of the protagonist in Diablo is strictly in first person, which allows players to connect to their character as if they were the actual “hero”. Diablo 3, a game with a story line that utterly imaginary, could possibly be our demise in the real world, breaking the rules of fiction.
Before concluding the starter edition of Diablo 3 by killing the Skeleton King, I decided to revisit and explore the Defiled Crypt beneath of the Cemetery of the Forsaken. I did not anticipate the large amount of undead that I was going to encounter, or how big the Crypt actually was. I accumulated over 1.8k gold during the trip and found many items; as well as 4 Blue Enchanted items which I later salvaged for subtle essence. I also leveled up to level 8 in the crypt and learned a new ability called Smoke Screen. While excavating the rest of crypt, I found a room with a jar of souls and collected it. After returning to New Tristram, I sold all the items I collected and bought a Spiteful Simple Hand Crossbow of Winter to prepare me for my last battle with the Skeleton King.
Cut it out!!!
All the novels that are being read in this class all play an important role in the syllabus. Each novel or novella provides similar ideology or lessons but in different situations and characters. But if one story had to absolutely be cut, it would have to be A Clock Work Orange. It is completely vulgar and absurd without needing to be. There are things in that novel that can not be unread, things that do not want to be remembered. To simply put it, the book was borderline disturbing, committing crimes such as murder and rape without hesitation is ludicrous.

Why is coding so freaking hard?
Codecademy allows users with zero knowledge of coding to learn and understand how web pages are created for free of charge! Codecademy implements language that is easy to understand in order to appeal to the majority. To further encourage users to learn coding, there is a reward system. Users receive badges for completing lessons.
The course first starts by introducing the concept of HTML, which is basically the skeleton of an webpage. Every single webpage is written in HTML. Students will used HTML to Headings and paragraphs along with images and links to a webpage.
The second step of the course defines the acronyms of HTML as Hyper Text Markup Language, which means “text with links in then”. If you click on the text, it will relocate you to another web page. CSS is defined as Cascading Style Sheets, which is the skin and make up that covers the skeleton known as the HTML. Basically CSS makes HTML look more appealing.
In step 3, the concept of nesting was introduced. Nesting works in relation to opening tags and closing tags. The term “nest” we are dealing with is used because the way tags work in cooperation with each other creates an effect which resembles said term. I tested out nesting by typing “Welcome to Technolit! Learn Basic Coding!” after two opening tags and before their two opposing closing tags, which essentially put them in the middle of the nest.
The forth step of the course is creating a head, which includes main information about the webpage like the title. Every file has two parts, the first being the head, and the second being the body.
Although I only completed 4 out of the 13 pages of Codecademy course, I have a much clearer understanding of reading code. Before, while looking at a webpage code, it was all a jumbled mess of words and characters, but now I have an idea of where the head or what the code is written in. Of course I can not do any coding besides the basics, Codecademy provides a free and interesting course to teach and help those who are willing to to learn the steps of creating a website. Not everyone is able to easily acquire the skills of coding, but Codecademy aids in improving ones knowledge.

Saturday (Not* using technology for 6 hours)
Woke up late on this Saturday morning due to the fact that the alarm on my phone was turned off. Instantly checked my phone for the time when I woke up, so I failed within the very few seconds of this test. Continued on the day, attempting to not use the bathroom, i.e. toliet or sink (therefore couldn’t brush my teeth). This meant that the best way to avoid technology itself was to keep myself in my room isolated from the world. Conversations with my room mate kept my sane for an hour or what felt like an hour for the most part. But ultimately failed and caved in to check the dozens of text messages left on my phone. With already failing to not use technology, I went to the bathroom and showered, etc then later on to my laptop to continue in my usual day internet browsing and social networking.
There is no doubt about it that technology shapes and influences our daily actives and decisions. Almost every aspect of human life in this modern age revolves around technology. The use of technology is a lot more broad then the obvious internet, computer and phone, it can be as simple as using a utensil to eat, or wearing glasses. It is all around anything that was created to make our lives more convenient to every day problems or situations. Trying to survive a day without using any sort of technology is equivalent to facing off zombies in an apocalypse, damn near impossible. Life seems dull and boring with out being able to use a phone or computer. Of course socializing does not require the use of technology, it just so happens that it is a lot more helpful in communicating to those who are currently not around you. The ability to send a message to someone with out verbal communication over a far distance instantly would have been considered witch-craft. Being constantly updated with information and statuses instantaneously about your friends and family’s where abouts allows you to feel more connected to them. When taking away this opportunity or access of communication, the world seems to be more bleak and uninteresting. It is a lot quieter and time seems to pass by more slowly. Others may enjoy this time off from the world, to relax and focus on the internal self, however I absolutely hated this time off from technology. The world around me felt so distant, the constant habits of being updated in real time of current events were on hold, and that is life seemed like, it was put on hold. I rely on technology in everyday life, not necessarily because I want to, but due to the fact that it was what I have grown up with and learned to live with. When it is taken away, I feel as lost and confused as a cavemen with an iPhone. It is safe to say, I am dependent on technology, and I am a technozombie.
Evelyn, a social networking man whore.
The goal of tweeting as Evelyn is to strictly portray his views of women, and his action towards them. As the days in the week progress, so will the progression of his character as it did in the novel. Everything that will be tweeted will be limited to only when Evelyn was a man, not yet transformed into Eve. The mindset of tweeting will mainly be Evelyn’s attitude towards women, objectifying them as toys to play with for his sexual desire. His personality as well as his demeanor will trace the events that occurred through out the novel starting with his ruthless sex and even later meeting Leilah. The plan is to interact with fellow classmates that have roles of characters in the novel as well. It will be very interesting as well as entertaining to collaborate with other characters in the novel through social networking. There is already a twitter for Leilah, and also another one specifically for her clothe so it would be very easy to tweet one another to create an intriguing story. Of course the structure of the main plot will be intact, however it would be very fun to exaggerate or even forge our own interpretation of the novel. Tweets will restrained only to the ideas and perception of Evelyn, and will end at the exact moment in time that he has his parts removed and transformed into Eve.
Being a dude rocks.
It is in my nature to be masculine, with out even thinking to do so. Behaving and having the thought process of the idea of gender occurs naturally. Whether it is to defend or be protective over what seems to be mine, i.e. girlfriend (not in the sense of an object) or even the way I dress or the things I eat, again being stereotypical, more meat and less vegetables.
Evelyn, to Eve.
Chapter three ends in Evelyn driving for days and finally reaching the desert. The reason why chapter four is so brief and short is because seems as if it is his farewell journal entry, his giving up on life. “I am lost, quite lost in the middle of the desert.” (Carter 41) He is lost not only in the physical sense of being in the desert with no idea where to go but also lost in himself, unsure of what his purpose in life is anymore. He states that “I have found a landscape that matches the landscape of my heart.” (Carter 41) Evelyn is now pitying himself, realizing that with his previous actions and life decisions made his heart as dry as the desert. This chapter plays a huge role in the novel as it shows Evelyn at his weakest and most emotionally vulnerable time in his life, even though it is only within a few paragraphs.
Evelyn’s transformation to Eve does not discharge his disgusting views and treatment of women earlier in the novel. Although he is now a woman, it doesn’t justify his previous actions. In the second chapter where Evelyn first meets Leilah, he explains every characteristic of her as almost if it was love at first sight. (Carter 19) However there was no love, or the intention of love, it was simply lust. He just wanted to fuck her, as vulgar as that sounds. This is proven as when Leilah is pregnant and has a failed abortion; Evelyn abandons her and leaves his own child. When Eve finally appears, she does not know how to be a woman or what it really means. She is taught by Sophia “how to make water in the way a woman does…” (Carter 80) Eve is learning the biological means of being a women, but simply have the biological parts is not enough for Eve to know what it means to be a woman. “I have not yet to become a woman.” (Carter 83) Evelyn objectified woman, his only interest was lust, he never had an emotional connection, strictly physical. When he turned into Eve, he did not have the intentions or free will to better himself. Everything that Eve has learned or was taught is influenced and controlled by Mother and her dictation. Evelyn becoming Eve does not make her a hero or justify Evelyn’s previous action. She can experience things that woman experience, but it doesn’t change the fact that they were done.
